Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic Agri-food sector, #DigiAgriFood, in an attempt to reinforce the Hub’s Services of Access to Funding, held on the 29th of April 2025 a workshop under the subject of “Food Hygiene and Safety – Training on the Application of Haccp in Food and Beverage Industries” .The workshop took place in the in Thοurio – Orestiada, Evros, in the hall of the Refugee Folklore Association of Women of Thourio at 17:00 in the afternoon.
During this workshop we had the pleasure of hosting specialized executive members who presented the concept of food hygiene and safety, food safety management systems, and training on the application of HACCP in food and beverage industries was also held. More specifically the beginning of the workshop was made by Mr. Bontsidis Christos, Special Consultant for Food Safety and Quality, Water and Public Health and Scientific Associate of #DigiAgrifood, who gave an overview of the Hub, while Mr. Papadopoulos Sotirios, General Manager of Agricultural Economics & Veterinary Medicine of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Project Manager of this project, presented “Management Systems for Food Safety from Field to Shelf”. Then, Dr. Plessas Stavros, Professor of Food Quality Control at the Department of Agricultural Development at the University of Thrace presented “Food Quality and Safety”.
The presentations’ conclusion was made with the “Training on the Application of HACCP in Food and Beverage Businesses with Mr. Bontsidis Christos, who presented in detail how a HACCP study is applied in food and beverage industries.
After completing the presentations questions were asked by the attendees and thus a fruitful and constructive discussion took place, with the aim at understanding food and beverage safety management systems and how to implement the HACCP system in their business or industry.
#DigiAgriFood has been approved by the European Commission as part of the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network and is co-funded by the European Union, under the Digital Europe Programme and the “Competitiveness Programme” of the Partnership Agreement 2021-2027 (ESPA).
