The University of Thessaly, partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic agri-food sector, #DigiAgriFood, held a training seminar on Thursday, March 28th, at the “ANDROMEDA” events center in Tirnavos with the participation of 4 cooperatives from the region and “Georgiki Anaptixi SA.” consulting company.
The agricultural cooperatives that took part were:
- i) A.S. DENDRON “ARGISSA”,
- ii) A.S. “GAIA FRUIT” TREES,
iii) A.S. PLATANOULION and
- iv) A.S. PLATANOULIONS “FRUITOPIGI”.
More than 45 producers and agriculturists attended the workshop, who showed a strong interest in the services offered by the hub.
The pivotal role of the #DigiAgriFood hub in agrifood was analyzed, and various tools for managing farming practices were presented in detail, using an agro-meteorological node and a smart insect trap.
With the help of these tools, producers were trained in the use of a digital application and its modules, through smart mobile devices. All equipment and digital tools have been developed by research staff of the University of Thessaly.
Moreover, a discussion took part on the prospects in modern primary production and on how producers can benefit from the #DigiAgriFood hub, as well as on the problems they face and what solutions the hub can offer them. Finally, they were informed about financial tools that exist and ways to access them.
