The Democritus University of Thrace, the lead partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic Agri-food sector, #DigiAgriFood, and the Laboratory of Environmental Engineering, Water Quality, and Wastewater Management, Department of Civil Engineering, are organizing an open educational seminar on the topic:
“Irrigation Water: Quality, Impacts from Agricultural Activity, Utilization, and Modern Methods”
On Friday, 13/12/2024, from 17:00 to 20:00, at the Tsanakleios Mansion, Komotini Municipal Library, 1st floor.
The event will be held with the support of the Agricultural Association of the Municipality of Komotini and the company Savvidis, Agricultural Components, representing Netafim, irrigation systems.
Participants will be informed about the different parameters of irrigation water quality and their impact on crop development. They will learn about new irrigation practices and the water quality criteria for sustainable and healthy agro-ecosystems, in line with modern cultivation trends and sustainability principles.
The central goal is to introduce the water quality characteristics, modern irrigation and/or fertilization techniques, and various measures to address diffuse pollution, ensuring increased agricultural production within a highly variable environment.
