The Democritus University of Thrace, the leading partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Agri-food sector in Greece, #DigiAgriFood, the Department of Informatics of Kavala (Research Group of Machine Learning and Vision), with the support of the Municipality of Doxato, the Agricultural Center of Daskalou Eleni, and Sandros 

SA, is organizing an in-person educational seminar and Consulting on the topic: “Artificial Intelligence and Disease Prediction in Cultivation – Special Nutrition and Climate Change: The Case of Kiwifruit” on Thursday, 20/3/2025 at 19:00, in Kalambaki, Drama, at the Doxato Municipality Building, Nerofraktis & Kanari, Municipal Council Chamber.

As part of our mission to empower farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovative digital and sustainable solutions, the #DigiAgriFood hub continues its series of in-person updates that promote collaboration, connecting local agronomists, farm advisors, cooperatives, and collective schemes with the #DigiAgriFood team in a dynamic environment that aligns our services with real local needs.

The seminar aims to analyze the presence of artificial intelligence in kiwifruit cultivation. Specifically, applications of artificial intelligence in agriculture, artificial vision, artificial vision in agriculture, and finally, artificial vision in kiwifruit cultivation and its diseases will be presented.

Additionally, the service provided to kiwifruit growers and agronomists will be presented: the use of the application developed by the Department of Informatics of Kavala, Democritus University of Thrace, DigiKiwiapp.

Finally, there will be information on the special nutrition of kiwifruit cultivation as a shield against climate change.

The event is open to the public, with limited seats, primarily aimed at farmers, agronomists, processors, and agricultural cooperatives.
