Ms Maria Michalopoulou, Coordinator and Scientific Lead of #DigiAgriFood, participated in the 12th Conference on the Development of Greek Agriculture, which took place on 12 June 2026 in Xanthi.

The conference served as an important meeting point for public dialogue on the future of the Greek primary and agri-food sector, focusing on generational renewal, innovation and the transition towards a more sustainable and competitive production model.

Ms Michalopoulou participated in the panel discussion titled “How Technology Shapes a More Sustainable and Competitive Agriculture”, highlighting the role of digital tools, scientific knowledge and collaboration in the everyday reality of the modern farmer.

In her intervention, she referred to the completion of the first phase of DigiAgriFood, underlining the Hub’s journey and contribution to supporting the agri-food ecosystem. At the same time, she announced the launch of DigiAgriFood 2, marking the second phase of the Hub at a national level.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of DigiAgriFood as a Hub that remains close to farmers, producers, cooperatives and agri-food businesses, offering services that help them understand, assess and use digital tools in practice.

Through its actions and services, DigiAgriFood supports the transition towards a more efficient, sustainable and competitive agriculture, providing people in the field with access to knowledge, technology and innovative solutions that respond to real production needs.

Ms Michalopoulou’s participation in the conference highlighted the importance of technology not as a distant concept, but as a practical tool that can support farmers, reduce costs, improve decision-making and contribute to a more resilient future for Greek agriculture.
