The Democritus University of Thrace, the lead partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Agri-Food sector in Greece, #DigiAgriFood, with the support of the Laboratories of Molecular Regulation & Diagnostic Technology Development and Developmental Molecular Biology, is organizing an online seminar on Monday, March 23, from 15:00 to 17:00, titled:
FROM DNA TO THE MARKET: Sequencing Technologies in the Wine Sector — From Genetic Data to Quality, Authenticity, and Competitiveness.
The seminar presents how modern DNA sequencing techniques are evolving from a research tool into a competitive advantage for vine growers, wineries, and businesses in the wine sector.
Through practical examples, the seminar highlights how genetic data can be utilized to improve product quality, ensure authenticity, and support product differentiation in the market.
Indicative topics of the seminar include:
- Molecular identification of grapevine varieties
- Monitoring and optimization of fermentation processes
- Identification of new indigenous yeast strains
- Connecting scientific knowledge with practical applications
The event is open to the public, with a limited number of seats, and is mainly addressed to vine growers, winemakers, wine producer cooperatives, as well as companies involved in wine standardization and trade.
