Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (REMTH) – “The decision-maker and funding Authority” is the top management and highest policy-making body at the local government organization level.
REMTH is the most competent body for the design and development of policies in the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace in accordance with the approved Regional Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS3). The main pillar of RIS3 is the digital innovation of the Agri-Food sector, the strengthening of entrepreneurship, competitiveness and extroversion in the sector and its connection with the Regional Academic/ Research Web. Moreover, with its capabilities, it can contribute in various stages to the operation of the EDIH. More specifically, in the pre-investment test phase, REMTH will be activated to assist in the awareness activities providing all the available human resources and facilities at its disposal. Regarding the support in securing investments, it is the competent body to provide support services to companies, organizations and public administrations in securing investments since it prepares, publishes and manages the budget of the region in connection with developmental projects.

Finally, it has a decisive contribution to the networking with all the stakeholders/actors in the region, such as industry, academia, associations, SMEs, chambers, etc. At the same time, collaboration at European level as an interlocutor directly with the institutions of the European Union and its participation in many co-funded programmes and actions makes REMTH the ideal partner for networking and finding relevant partners in Europe. In this context, the participation of the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace in the partnership is very valuable and fully serves the objectives of the EDIH.
