Energy production model through anaerobic digestion of agro-industrial waste

Energy production model through anaerobic digestion of agro-industrial waste

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

The service evaluates the energy efficiency of various agro-industrial wastes and byproducts during anaerobic digestion through BMP tests. This evaluation consists of an assessment of the biological process of bioconversion of certain substrates to biomethane. This service aims to evaluate biogas production and yield of various feeding substrates used in full-scale anaerobic digesters operating in Greece, aiming at optimizing biological processes occurring anaerobically, therefore increasing energy efficiency through enhanced biogas production. The beneficiaries of this service are i) companies operating full-scale anaerobic digesters, which convert the biogas produced into electricity that is directed in the electrical distribution system and ii) agro-industrial units that aim to enhance the bioconversion of agricultural residues into biogas in an energy-efficient way in the context of the circular economy (e.g., creameries, farms, manufacturing units, etc.).

SERVICE BENEFIT

The customer can achieve:

  • Saving financial resources of agro-industrial units through the selection of suitable substrates for anaerobic digestion.
  • Reliable estimation of the produced biogas and simulation of the anaerobic digestion process during the bioprocessing of the treated substrates.
  • Estimation of the financial profit derived from the selection of the most suitable available substrate for anaerobic digestion.
