On May 30 and 31, 2025, the Thessaly Tech Hub Forum was hosted at the JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa, bringing together agencies, businesses, startups, and research institutions from across Thessaly and beyond.
The aim of this two-day event was to explore how technology and innovation can serve as catalysts for the region’s reconstruction following recent natural disasters, and how Thessaly can evolve into a new technological hub of the Balkans.
#DigiAgriFood, the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic Agri-food sector, participated as an official supporter of the event. Its involvement was part of a broader effort to promote and support the digital transition in the agri-food sector, with the goal of connecting small and medium-sized enterprises, research groups, and local stakeholders to modern digital technologies and tools.
The University of Thessaly, as an active partner of #DigiAgriFood, represented the hub at the Forum, informing attendees about its services—from mentoring and training to technical support and the promotion of digital solutions tailored to the needs of the agri-food ecosystem.
Visitor response at the hub’s booth was encouraging, with many professionals expressing interest in future collaboration or participation in related activities. Beyond mere presence, the Forum provided the right environment for substantive discussions, knowledge exchange, and the identification of new opportunities for cooperation.
The hub’s participation was an opportunity to lay out the challenges and opportunities facing the agri-food sector today, in an environment where technological innovation is increasingly critical to sustainability and growth. Its presence amplified the voice of the agri-food community in the dialogue on Thessaly’s digital regeneration. Based on this participation, a clearer picture emerged of the region’s needs, and new opportunities were highlighted for targeted actions that can enhance the competitiveness of local businesses.
