iBO / CERTH and FarmB Digital Agriculture, in collaboration with the Municipality of Eordaia, successfully organized the event “Digital Transformation in Agriculture and Sustainability” in Ptolemaida, as part of the #DigiAgriFood the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic Agri-food sector. The event took place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Pantelidis Hotel in Ptolemaida, attracting numerous participants from the agricultural, academic, and business sectors.
The event was inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor of Agricultural Development of the Municipality of Eordaia, Mr. George Kyriakidis, who emphasized the necessity of digital transformation as a response to the modern challenges of Greek agriculture.
During the event, distinguished speakers presented innovative technological applications and practices aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector. Among them, Mr. Ilias Platis, Market Development Manager of FarmB, analyzed the contribution of digital tools in reducing costs and increasing crop efficiency. Mr. Thodoris Chrysochou, Technical Director of Compo Expert Hellas, showcased investments in Green Development and collaboration with FarmB. Additionally, Mr. Giannis Prepakis, Agronomist at UPL Hellas, focused on the role of digital tools in addressing climate challenges, while Mr. Fokion Papathanasiou, Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Western Macedonia, highlighted the importance of collective effort for the successful digital transition of the agri-food sector.
Recognizing the importance of practical application, the Municipality of Eordaia and FarmB plan to organize a new outdoor event as soon as weather conditions permit. The aim is to provide producers with practical training, demonstrating how they can utilize the technological solutions discussed during the seminar.
