The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (REMTh), as a partner of #DigiAgriFood, leads in promoting smart agriculture by integrating innovative technologies to enhance agricultural production. On June 21, 2024, the DAOK and DAOP services of the Regional Unit of Rhodope successfully organized a field day training in a field in the Rhodope Prefecture, showcasing the use of electronic traps for combating the green worm and the application of variable rate fertilization in cotton.

Field Day Training: Smart Agriculture Applications in REMTh

The training focused on two key technologies:

• Electronic Traps for Combating the Green Worm: Participants were informed about the installation and operation of electronic traps, which provide reliable data for timely addressing the green worm, reducing the need for chemical interventions.
• Variable Rate Fertilization Technology in Cotton: The capability to adjust fertilizer amounts based on plant and soil needs was presented, leading to optimized yields and reduced production costs.

The active participation of farmers and the exchange of experiences during the event highlighted the need for continuous education and adoption of new technologies. REMTh, through #DigiAgriFood, continues to support such initiatives, enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the agricultural sector in the region.
