The DigiAgriFood Success Stories series highlights the journeys of farmers and agri-food businesses that have collaborated with #DigiAgriFood.
Through the Hub’s services and tools — guided by vision and commitment to digital transformation — they bring innovation to the heart of the agri-food sector.

In this context, DigiAgriFood Success Story | Dimitrios Kotzampasis showcases how the cotton producer leveraged the Hub’s digital services — specifically the electronic insect traps for green worm monitoring — to significantly upgrade the management of his cultivation.

#DigiAgriFood continues to actively support every initiative that leads to smarter, more sustainable and more competitive agricultural production.

Smart Electronic Insect Traps for Green Worm Control

With the installation of electronic insect-monitoring traps and the use of dedicated monitoring software, the producer gained a complete and continuous overview of the green worm population in his field.

According to supervising agronomist Ioannis Kotzampasis, this technology enabled him to:

  • monitor the insect population in real time,
  • make informed decisions on the optimal timing of interventions,
  • save significant amounts of time and cost in plant protection treatments.

Results & Benefits

The implementation of these solutions led to:

  • more targeted plant-protection interventions,
  • time and resource savings,
  • improved competitiveness of cotton cultivation at regional level.

Agronomist Mr. Kotzampasis also emphasized the importance of such initiatives, which strengthen the primary sector and provide farmers with access to innovative digital solutions.

The Contribution of the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace

The Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, as an active partner of DigiAgriFood, supports interventions that bring practical know-how directly to producers and accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture.
