{"id":6852,"date":"2024-12-23T13:48:35","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T11:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digiagrifood.gr\/?p=6852"},"modified":"2024-12-23T13:54:27","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T11:54:27","slug":"conclusion-of-the-educational-seminar-carbon-farming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digiagrifood.gr\/en\/conclusion-of-the-educational-seminar-carbon-farming\/","title":{"rendered":"Conclusion of the Educational Seminar &#8220;Carbon Farming: New Business Opportunities in the Agricultural Sector, Field Demonstration&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Democritus University of Thrace<\/strong>, lead partner of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Hellenic Agri-food sector, <strong>#DigiAgriFood<\/strong>, and the<strong> Interbalkan Environmental Center<\/strong> (i-BEC), as the scientific responsible partner of the European Project <strong>Carbonica<\/strong> EU \u201cCarbon Commitment Initiative for Climate-Resilient Agriculture,\u201d successfully organized an open <strong>educational<\/strong> Seminar \u2013 Field Demonstration on the farm with the topic: \u201c<strong>Carbon Farming: New Business Opportunities in the Agricultural Sector, Field Demonstration<\/strong>\u201d on <strong>Friday<\/strong>, <strong>November<\/strong> <strong>29<\/strong>, 2024, in the area of <strong>Chrysoupoli<\/strong>, Kavala.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>first part<\/strong> of the Seminar took place on the farm, with staff from the Interbalkan Environmental Center and the Carbonica project using a portable field toolkit for soil indicator measurements and presenting the soil sampling methodology for further analysis in a soil laboratory. The data collected in real time was later presented in the hall with the help of the management platform used by the project.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>farm<\/strong> hosting the event serves as a pilot site for kiwi cultivation and has a <strong>climate change station<\/strong>, which was presented by the speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>second part<\/strong> of the Seminar was held in the <strong>Chrysoupoli Municipal Theatre Hall<\/strong>, where the \u00a0and field measurements were presented in detail, along with all the parameters for participation in the program. Additionally, the Program staff provided in-depth explanations of the parameters, offering profound <strong>knowledge<\/strong> on <strong>innovative<\/strong> carbon farming practices, tailored to local crops and other relevant characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, the #DigiAgriFood Hub briefly presented its project and the <strong>free<\/strong> <strong>services<\/strong> it offers to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the company <strong>Sandros<\/strong>, D. S.A., which supported the event, informed the audience about the use of special nutrition products, specifically <strong>bioactivators<\/strong>, <strong>soil improvers<\/strong>, and <strong>beneficial<\/strong> <strong>microorganisms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A rich buffet and networking session followed for the attendees.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar was an <strong>important opportunity<\/strong> for informing <strong>farmers<\/strong>, industry professionals, and the wider public about innovative farming techniques and business opportunities in the field of carbon farming.
