#DigiAgriFood, the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the agri-food sector in Greece, led by the Democritus University of Thrace, attended the Synergy Days 2023 on October 4 & 5, at the Ioannis Vellidis Congress Centre in Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n

Maria Michalopoulou, Coordinator and Scientific Manager of the project, along with other representatives from the Democritus University of Thrace, participated in the two-day event organized by the European Digital Innovation Hub SMARTAGRIHUBS.<\/p>\n

During the event, #DigiAgriFood representatives had the chance to attend interesting workshops and interact with key players in digital innovation in the agri-food sector across Europe. Moreover, Maria Michalopoulou participated in the Panel discussion “The European Digital Innovation Hubs,” held on October 5. Moderated by Hazel Peavoy, Senior Strategic Business Partner in Agriculture at the Walton Institute of Ireland, Ms. Michalopoulou highlighted the key features of #DigiAgriFood and presented a case study of a business in the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, evaluated by the project team regarding its digital maturity level.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that during this discussion, the needs and challenges faced by the hub in the effort of digital transformation of the agri-food sector were communicated, followed by the presentation of proposals for specific digital services. The participants in the panel emphasized the need for collaboration among them to achieve the digital and green transition of businesses in the agri-food sector in Europe.<\/p>\n

The Synergy Days 2023 was organized by the SMARTAGRIHUBS project, which consists of a large network of service providers, startups, SMEs, and technology experts aiming to develop and adopt digital solutions in the agri-food sector. The purpose of the event was to create a significant communication channel among the digital innovation actors of the European agri-food sector, where they can discuss and exchange the know-how they acquire in the effort of digital transformation across the entire spectrum of agri-food in Europe.<\/p>\n
